The Nanolab @ GJU was founded in January of 2015 by Professor Ala’aaldeen Al-Halhouli to provide a space for the research and development of novel micro and nano devices. Research conducted in the Nano Lab is multidisciplinary, focusing on sensors, customized electromechanical systems, and actuators for life science, food quality, water monitoring, printed electronics, biomedical devices, and energy.

The Nanolab aims to become a leading research center in the fabrication and development of micro and nanodevices internationally.

Our goals as a research center are delineated below:

  • To improve the quality of life for members of our community through high-tech research and development focusing on efficient, low-cost solutions.

  • To involve faculty members from different fields - including mechanical engineering, mechatronics engineering, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, biology, and pharmacy - in novel, interdisciplinary research projects.

  • To recruit young scientists and develop the skills of undergraduates and recent graduates by engaging them in projects and preparing them to work on projects of their own.

  • To strengthen our ties with industry and work on projects that begin as ideas in our lab and eventually make their way into the world as products.
